Vietnam is in the process of innovating. This process has had a remarkable influence on various aspects of the lives of the ethnic minorities, including marriage. This article presents changes in  marriage practices of the Yao Quan Chet sub-ethnic group in Ma hamlet, Tu Ly commune, Da Bac district, Hoa Binh province. By analyzing the factors that have caused such changes in the marriage of this ethnic group, changes in marriage practices are also pointed out. Based on this, the author shows the trend of changes in marriage customs, and then suggests changes in these practices that aim both at positive socio-economic development and preservation of the traditional ethnic culture.
