Albert Buell Lewis và dân tộc học lịch sử

Tóm tắt

One of the largest museum collections about Melanesian culture was assembled during the period from 1909-1913 by an American anthropologist Albert Buell Lewis. This collection plays a significant role for the discipline of anthropology, as it illustrates how the goals of anthropological fieldwork have changed and how early regional questions still remain unanswered. Albert Buell Lewis’ collection gives us some ideas of the living and working conditions of anthropologists in the early of the 20th century as well as the difficulties they had to overcome before meeting with success.
