This article presents a general overview of the self-governing factors of traditional villages in the rural areas of Vietnam. Self governing traditions in Vietnamese villages originated from specific characteristics of the Vietnam rural commune, which were developed during the period of domination by northern invaders and have now become the nature of the village governing system. This study shows the current double-sided impact on management at the local level in rural areas. The local authorities governing those states have had an ongoing interest in understanding the self governing characteristics of the Vietnamese rural commune. By studying these factors, administrative authorities can develop the advantages of the present self-governing system, while limiting its disadvantages.
