The Fixed Cultivation - Settlement policy for the Kho Mu people focused on the development of wet rice cultivation with the aims of increasing food resources, reducing burnt-over land and land lost by the pressure of logging. However, the expenses for the reclamation and wet rice cultivation of the Kho Mu people are very expensive. Furthermore, the productivity of rice is very low because the climate is not suitable and they do not have skillful farming techniques. The author proposed that instead of costly investment for wet rice cultivation, the Kho Mu people should be advised towards afforestment and protecting the forest by displaying their traditional cultivation on the sloping land.
