This composition introduces the opinions of some scholars, regarding the notion of ethnicity, as well as criteria to define an ethnicity. A synthesis of these opinions can show that, ever since the year of 1960, the definition of an ethnicity has changed considerably. The most outstanding feature is the consideration of an ethnicity as a community in which the members are aware of the identity of their community, as well as aware of the different identities of other ethnicity around. An ethnicity is no longer seen from the sheer angle of biology, or regarded as a closed community, separated from other neighbouring ethnicity. According to the author, the definition of an ethnicity, the identification and classification of ethnicity need to be put in the context of each individual country to assure their rationality
