Discussion on ethnic groups speaking Viet Muong languages in Northern Central Vietnam

Abstract

The author supposed that the Northern Central part of Vietnam is a very convenient place for the Viet Muong community to live. However, this also becomes the oldest reserved place due to the fact that cultural communication is at standstill in this “oasis.”  Therefore, the Nguon, Sach, May, Ruc, Arem, Ma Lieng groups were formed as they exist today. Through studies, the author found out that the Nguon ethnic group lives at the foot of a mountain in the delta area (a part of Kinh people) while the Sach ethnic group lives in the narrow valley around villages. The May, Ruc, Arem and Ma Lieng ethnic groups live at Stone Mountain, the water source.  The Chut ethnic group was not considered in this discussion.
