Dwelling house of Thu Lao people at Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province

Abstract

The article describes the process of house construction (construction material, land selection, construction technique), habits of using dwelling houses and surrounding areas of the Thu Lao people at Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province. The author states that the Thu Lao people’s house style is a transition from the house on stilts to a flattened house. On the basis of analysing the dwelling house, the author agrees with the view that Thu Lao people are a local group of the Nung ethnic minority in Vietnam.
