Ensuring social security for the elderly in the context of population aging in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

Older adults are among the most affected groups by the ongoing population aging trend in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City. Ensuring social welfare for the elderly has become one of the key responsibilities of the municipal government. Based on an empirical study of social welfare provision for the elderly, this paper proposes several policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of social welfare systems to better adapt to the current demographic aging context in Ho Chi Minh City.
