Abstract

In smart agriculture, automated irrigation for crops is a significant requirement. The presented system is capable of performing this task via a mobile phone or an HMI (Human Machine Interface). The system is constructed from scratch, including mechanical design, machining, control cabinet assembly, control programming, and interface design. Solidworks software is employed to design 3D models for subsequent hardware fabrication and installation. The system is then programmed for control using TIA Portal V15 and for image processing using Python with the Tkinter and OpenCV libraries. Remote control of the system is possible through a Web server based on Node-RED software, or via a phone using the Blynk IoT tool, alternatively, direct operation is available through the control panel. Operational results demonstrate the system's effectiveness, with over 90% accuracy in detecting vegetable plots; the nozzle with programmable calibration capabilities can stop at precise predetermined positions; water irrigation quantity is controlled, and operation schedules can be preprogrammed.
