Analysis of drug use situation in patients’ hypertension with diabetes mellitus with inpatient treatment at Tan Chau Regional General Hospital

Abstract

Hypertension is a common comorbidity in diabetic patients. It is one factor that increases the severity of diabetes, whereas diabetes also makes hypertension more difficult to treat. This study is to explore the situation of using drugs to treat hypertension and diabetes and the effectiveness of controlling blood pressure and blood sugar in hypertensive patients with diabetes. A retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was applied in this study. The rate of using antihypertensive drugs in the calcium channel blocker group accounted for the highest score of 65,05%; combination therapy with antihypertensive drugs accounts for a high percentage score. The rate of using antidiabetic drugs with metformin predominated at a rate of 86,41%; combination therapy accounts for a higher proportion than monotherapy. The percentages of patients who reached the target blood pressure and blood sugar at discharge were 72,33% and 85,44%, respectively.
