Abstract

The Anthropology discipline and the team of anthropology lecturers at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, pay particular attention to issues of culture, society, economy, and development in Vietnam and around the world. Over the past two decades, the Department of Anthropology (now the Department of Anthropology and Religious Studies) has remained committed to its goal of building the Department into a leading anthropology hub in the region, guided by the educational philosophy of “Inspiring Anthropology”. By employing the concept of “internationalization”, this paper analyzes the key dimensions in education, research, and application of anthropology from the 2000s to the present. Through this analysis, the paper identifies the forms, nature, and impacts of the internationalization process on the discipline of anthropology. This paper argues that anthropology has a high level of internationalization in its education, research, and application, following two directions: “bringing global anthropology to Vietnam” and “bringing Vietnamese anthropology to the world”. Therefore, the future development orientation of the Anthropology discipline should continue to consolidate this position and further strengthen this advantage
