Abstract

With regard that XIAP, as an inhibitor on apoptosis proteins is highly expressed in most cancers and associated with chemotherapy resistance, increases tumor recurrence, and shortens patient survival, and as thus, makes antisurvivin therapy an attractive cancer treatment strategy, … the mRNA levels of XIAP in total  RNA samples extracted from BT474 cell line and from the same cell line incubated with glycyl-funtumin (ASLEM) for 24 hrs were compared by RT-PCR quantitation (normalized by b actin). The mRNA level of XIAP in BT474 was 4.3 times higher (p < 0.01) than that of those incubated with 3 mg/mL glycyl-funtumin. These findings suggest an XIAP transcription inhibition pathway by glycyl-funtumin in BT474 cells.
