ABC–VEN matrix analysis on drugs consumption at the General Hospital of Bat Xat (Lao Cai province) in 2018

Abstract

In 2018, the General Hospital of Bat Xat (in Lao Cai province) used 462 drug items costing up to 11.189 billion VND. ABC analysis revealed an inappropriate drug expense: For Category A drugs, the consumption of just 8 % of drugs items amounted to 79.64 % of the total expense of Category A drugs. Also, ABC/VEN matrix detected 2 active substances in the AN subgroup, that were Alphachymotrysin and Extractum Azolla microphyla Azollaceae. Several drugs of catergory A and B just the same in the active substances, their concentration, content and dosage forms were used at the same time,… Amlodipin capsules 2.5mg and Cefdinir capsules 300mg, for example.
