Enforcement of environmental protection laws on green bond

Abstract

Along with the development in today’s modern society, the environmental protection is the top issue to ensure sustainable development, nurture natural resources for our future generations. Vietnam has promulgated The Law on Environmental Protection and legal documents to adjust people’s activities when impacting nature, affecting the living environment and causing damage to the environment. In response to the needs about the capital for developing, green projects, green bonds have opened the new mobilization capital channels for long-term investment project in the fields of infrastructures and renewable energy in our country. The study focused on analyzing: (i) Experience in applying green bonds laws of some countries; (ii) Current status of green bond laws according to the The Law on Environmental Protection 2020 and related legal documents; and (iii) Solutions to improve the efficiency of applying green bond laws according to the Law on Environmental Protection 2020.
