The Mekong delta's community-based tourism and the quality of current community based-tourism training

Abstract

The study examines the standard of community-based tourism in the Mekong Delta and the current state of human resource training for community-based tourism at regional universities in the southern region. This was done through secondary analysis and in-depth interviews. The research findings indicated that the quality of community-based tourism in the Mekong Delta was subpar. To address this issue, the role of universities in training human resources is crucial. However, the current tourism training programs do not prioritize community-based tourism, resulting in a shortage and weakening of the human resources in this field, hindering the growth of this type of tourism. To improve the situation, universities should incorporate community-based tourism into their training programs and provide opportunities for students to gain practical experience through internships.
