Economic development following the green growth trend through experiences from several countries around the world and lessons learned for Vietnam
Abstract
Economic development through the promotion of green growth is a strategy aimed at restructuring and enhancing economic institutions to utilize resources more efficiently and increase the competitiveness of the economy. This is achieved through investing in technological innovation, natural capital, and economic tools, which in turn contribute to addressing climate change and ensuring sustainable economic development. In Vietnam, this approach has been implemented since 2012, as outlined in the "National Strategy on Green Growth for the period 2011-2020 and a Vision to 2050". While there have been some successes, there are also limitations in the implementation of Vietnam's green growth policy. This article aims to clarify the concept of green growth and examine the experiences of other countries in pursuing economic development through green growth. Based on this, potential solutions will be suggested to improve Vietnam's green growth policy in the future.
