Practical implementation of regulations on ozone layer protection according to Vietnamese law

Abstract

Protecting the Ozone layer is one of the Sustainable Development Goals – SDG that is implemented by many countries all over the world. Vietnam also joined the Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol in 1994. To implement these commitments, Vietnam has continuously improved its environmental legal framework, especially the Law on Environment Protection 2020 (effective January 1, 2022), which has added regulations on Ozone layer protection in Article 92. In implementing regulations, Vietnam has achieved many achievements; however; the practice still has certain limitations. This study analyzed some legal regulations on Ozone layer protection and the practical implementation of these regulations, thereby proposed recommendations to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement on Ozone layer protection in Vietnam in the coming time.
