Exploiting and promoting the value of literature and art in building and developing literary tourism models in the Southwest region
Abstract
In this article, we discuss the impact of performing arts and literature on the development of a cultural tourism model in the Southwest region. Our approach to studying literary tourism involved both theoretical and practical research methods, with a focus on historical perspectives. We conducted a thorough review of existing academic literature, using statistical analysis to identify key trends. Additionally, we utilized analytical and synthetic methods to create a typology of literary tourism and highlight its value. Our research also included field research, where we gathered information on locations featured in prominent literary works. Based on our findings, we proposed three literary tourism models that are well-suited for the Southwest: (1) Bookstore tourism; (2) Literary tourism following the footsteps of authors; and (3) Literary travel centered around a specific literary work.
