Factors affecting employees’ innovation work behavior and their job performance in Vietnamese companies during the COVID-19 pandemic
Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic crisis is a global disaster, negatively affecting the development of the global economy. To cope with the volatile, risky and complex business environment caused by Covid-19, companies need to innovate in their operations, especially research and development activities, and encourage creative behaviors of employees to improve work efficiency. Although previous studies have shown a number of factors affecting employee’s innovation work behavior and their job performance during the Covid-19 pandemic, the results are still inconsistent and there are many different views. This study aims to identify the factors affecting the job performance and innovation work behavior as well as impact of inovation work behavior on job performance of employees working in Vietnamese enterprises during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study was conducted with qualitative research and quantitative formal research with 526 employees working in Ho Chi Minh City. Based on the analysis results, the research show that Job Insecurity, Techno-Stress, and Work-Family Conflict impact the reduction in employees' innovation work behavior and job performance. Besides, employees’ innovation work behavior positively affects their job performance. The study offers implications for companies to mitigate the impact of these factors on job performance and employees' creative work behavior.
