Abstract

A defensive campaign is a fundamental form of combat, aimed at halting, attriting, and destroying attacking enemy forces while protecting key objectives. Such a campaign may comprise various activities, including area defense organized around strongpoints, the employment of maneuver forces to conduct counterattacks, and the use of tactics to prolong the defensive phase and wear down enemy forces prior to launching a counteroffensive.
