Abstract

In August 1971, the Politburo issued a Resolution: to launch the 1972 Strategic Offensive in the directions of the Southeast, Tri-Thien, and Central Highlands, forming a general offensive throughout the South to destroy large numbers of enemy troops and expand the liberated areas. The decisive military victory at the strategic level in harmony with the victory on the diplomatic front directly opened the way to end the war and restore peace in Vietnam.
