"CHICKEN FESTIVAL" COMPETITION IN THE MEMORIAL FESTIVAL OF KING NGO QUYEN AT DUONG LAM COMMUNE, SON TAY TOWN, HANOI

service
in
remembrance
of
King
Ngo

Quyen
held
in
Duong
Lam
commune

area,
Son
Tay
town
is
a
long‑term

traditional
festivity.
In
contradiction
with

other
provinces
in
the
North‑East,

Vietnam,
this
festival
takes
place
on

August
14th
yearly
for
commemorating

King
Ngo
Quyen's
death.
This
festival

has
expanded
within
the
town
instead
of

being
taken
place
with
plenty
of
diverse

activities
in
a
local
commune
area
for
the

last
two
years.
For
example,
the

“Chicken
festival”
contest,
which
had

been
added
to
the
carnival,
however,
this

festival
of
competition
always
attracts
the

enthusiastic
participation
from
local

residents
belonged
to
in
the
villages
of

Duong
Lam
commune.
Additionally,
they

also
organized
the
“Ga
Mia”
in
Son
Tay

town.
In
this
article,
the
author
will

concentrate
on
illustrating
the
festival
in

memory
of
King
Ngo
Quyen,

but
at
the

same
time
presenting
the
“Chicken

festival”
in
general
including
not
only

preparation
steps
but
also
scale,
forms
of

organization.
Relying
on
that,
we
can

appreciate
roles
of
the
“Chicken
festival”

throughout
this
fiesta.
