Abstract

This
article
focuses
on
clarifying
the
role
and
conceptual
content
of
the
people's
character
(tính
nhân
dân)
in
the

context
of
contemporary
Vietnamese
literature
and
arts.
It
revisits
the
historical
development
of
literature
closely

associated
with
this
attribute,
alongside
other
essential
characteristics
such
as
party
character,
class
character,

and
national
character.
At
the
same
time,
the
article
emphasizes
the
necessity
of
reviewing
and
adjusting
the

theoretical
framework
of
literature
and
arts
to
align
with
contemporary
understandings.
By
adopting
a
dialectical

approach
and
situating
literature
within
its
historical
and
political
institutional
context,
the
article
asserts
that
the

people's
character
refers
to
the
relationship
between
literature
and
the
people
‑
where
the
people
are
seen
as
the

true
subjects
of
history
and
serve
as
a
vital
criterion
for
assessing
the
ideological
and
artistic
quality
of
literary

works.
