THE SYSTEM OF VIETNAMESE CULTURAL VALUES ‑ FROM GENERAL AWARENESS TO IDENTIFICATION IN SELECTED CULTURAL FIELDS
Abstract
Learning about the culture of a nation, in the end, is aimed at the process of identifying the values and value systems crystallized on the historical process of formation, movement and survival of that nation. In recent decades, many social science and humanities works have been interested at different levels, scopes and degrees when aiming to survey and research the values and cultural value systems of families and nations of ethnic groups in the multi‑ethnic national community of Vietnam. Discussing this research subject, the article once again approaches to generally perceive some issues related to the concepts of values and cultural value systems. From there, it aims at identifying the cultural value system in some cultural fields on the historical process of building and defending the nation for thousands of years. At the same time, based on theoretical and practical grounds, it contributes to suggesting a number of issues related to the task of implementing the strategy of protecting and promoting cultural values/value systems in the current development of Vietnam.
