TEACHING TRADITIONAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AT HA LONG UNIVERSITY
Abstract
This
article
focuses
on
analyzing
and
proposing
solutions
to
improve
the
quality
of
teaching
the
traditional
musical
instrument
performance
discipline
at
Ha
Long
University.
The
current
curriculum
is
designed
on
the
foundation
of
providing
knowledge
about
ethnic
music,
performance
skills,
group
and
individual
practice,
instrument
teaching,
along
with
cultural
and
social
studies
related
to
traditional
musical
instruments.
However,
the
teaching
materials
and
curriculum
lack
diversity,
updates,
and
the
ability
to
support
students
in
practical
performance
exercises.
Additionally,
the
absence
of
digital
materials
and
online
learning
tools
reduces
the
effectiveness
of
self‑study.
The
primary
teaching
method
currently
employed
is
direct
instruction,
which,
while
effective
in
conveying
techniques,
fails
to
inspire
creativity
and
passion
in
students.
The
article
suggests
innovating
teaching
methods
in
a
positive
direction,
not
only
helping
pupil
better
access
traditional
music
but
also
contributing
to
the
preservation
and
development
of
national
culture
in
the
context
of
global
cultural
exchange
today.
