THE SYSTEM OF VIETNAMESE CULTURAL VALUES ‑ FROM GENERAL AWARENESS TO IDENTIFICATION IN SELECTED CULTURAL FIELDS
Abstract
Tourism today is not only a key economic sector but also an important driving force for sustainable
development. The article analyzes the role of tourism in realizing sustainable development goals through three
pillars꞉ economic, social and environmental. Economically, tourism generates large foreign exchange revenue,
contributes to the national GDP, and creates jobs for millions of workers, especially in rural and remote areas.
Socially, tourism contributes to preserving and promoting national cultural identity, enhancing exchanges and
understanding between communities, and promoting people's participation in development activities.
Environmentally, sustainable tourism aims to effectively use resources, protect ecosystems and minimize
negative impacts on the natural environment. The article also mentions current sustainable tourism
development trends such as ecotourism, community tourism, responsible tourism, and analyzes some
challenges in the process of realizing these goals. From there, the article proposes some strategic orientations
and policy solutions to promote the positive role of tourism in sustainable development in Vietnam.
