NGUYỄN DYNASTY COURT COSTUME AESTHETICS IN CONTEMPORARY STREET FASHION DESIGN FOR YOUNG WOMEN
Abstract
This article analyses the aesthetic characteristics of Nguyễn Dynasty court costumes (1802 ‑ 1945) and their
applicability to contemporary street fashion design for young women. From the perspectives of applied arts and
design theory, the study examines formal systems, structural features, colour schemes, and aesthetic symbolism
in Nguyễn court attire, while assessing their potential transformation into modern designs aligned with
contemporary youth aesthetics. Using historical verification, comparative analysis, field research, and
statistical synthesis, the study demonstrates that Nguyễn court costume aesthetics constitute not only a cultural
heritage but also a valuable source of inspiration for contemporary fashion, contributing to the affirmation of
Vietnamese fashion identity in the context of globalization
