Abstract

Water puppetry, a unique creation of the Vietnamese people in the Northern Delta, embodies rich folk cultural
values. Incorporating this art form into education is essential for preserving and promoting national heritage. In
alignment with the 2018 General Education Program, the Ministry of Education and Training has encouraged
localities to design curricula that integrate local historical and cultural traditions. This article examines
experimental models of teaching water puppetry to primary school students, including the use of artisan Phan
Thanh Liems mini water puppetry stage and field trips to live performances. These initiatives have yielded
positive outcomes, demonstrating the potential of water puppetry as an effective medium for art education and
cultural transmission in primary schools.
