STUDY THE IMPACT OF VIETNAMESE PENTATONIC SCALE IN SONG COMPOSITION

Abstract

The structure of the pentatonic scale has been a focus of Vietnamese musicological research since the early 20th
century. The close relationship among the two‑, three‑, four‑, and five‑tone scales reveal a natural process of
development from simplicity to complexity, resulting multiple scale variations. This progression and
expansion highlight the richness and diversity of Vietnamese folk music.
