REGIONAL VOCAL IDENTITY IN VIETNAM IN THE CONTEXT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND VOCAL TRAINING
Abstract
Regional vocal identity in Vietnam is shaped through the interaction of language, culture, and the living
environment of each community. In contemporary vocal training, particularly Western classical vocal
education based on the Bel canto system, insufficient attention to regional characteristics may result in the
homogenization of vocal expression. Meanwhile, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) offers
new opportunities to support vocal training, while simultaneously posing challenges to the reproduction and
preservation of traditional vocal identities. This article examines the role of regional vocal identity in
Vietnamese vocal education, identifies the limitations of AI in simulating region‑specific vocal characteristics,
and proposes orientations for vocal training that harmoniously integrate Bel canto techniques, technological
applications, and the preservation of cultural values.
