INNOVATION OF POETRY IN VIETNAM IN THE 1920S AND THE RISE OF THE NEW POETRY MOVEMENT (1932‑1945)

Abstract

This paper explores the demand and expressions of poetical innovation in Vietnam in the 1920s. By
systematizing conceptions of poetry and of poetical innovation proposed during that time, adding new
documents of innovated poetry, and analyzing practices of that innovated poetry as well, the paper discusses the
role, the significance, and the contribution of those poetical performances to the rise of the New Poetry
Movement in Vietnam during the time from 1932 to 1945.
