Abstract

Songs influenced by Southern Vietnamese folk music constitute an important component of music pedagogy
training, contributing not only to professional skill development but also to students' understanding of regional
cultural values. This article examines the theoretical foundations and current practices of teaching songs with
Southern folk influences at Dong Thap University, and proposes directions for pedagogical innovation. The
findings highlight the importance of improving Vietnamese pronunciation, applying folk‑oriented vocal
training techniques, expanding the song repertoire, integrating technology, and reforming assessment methods
to enhance the quality of practice‑oriented vocal education.
