Abstract

Hue Phap Lam is a unique artistic medium that flourished under the Nguyen Dynasty, characterized by an
aesthetic language of enamel colors that encapsulates the cultural philosophy of Hue. This article analyzes the
core characteristics of this “color language” through three primary dimensions꞉ fabrication techniques, the
symbolic significance of the color palette, and the interplay between colors and figurative elements within royal
artistic spaces. The study demonstrates that Phap Lam enamel color transcends mere technical application to
become a sophisticated vehicle for philosophical and emotional expression. Based on these findings, the author
proposes practical applications of the Phap Lam color language in art education and contemporary applied arts.
These directions aim to foster aesthetic competence, design thinking, and heritage preservation awareness
among art students and practitioners in the modern context.
