THE POLITICAL NATURE OF CULTURE

Abstract

Culture is a vital dimension of social life, closely interconnected with other domains such as the economy and
politics. In relation to politics, culture‑at certain times and in specific formscan reflect the ideologies and power
structures of different social classes. Moreover, political actors often employ culture as a powerful instrument
to advance their causes. This article examines the political nature of culture from two perspectives꞉ as an
inherent manifestation of culture itself, and as a product of its strategic use.
