Abstract

This article studies the ancient village of Jiangtou (Lingchuan District, Guilin City, Guangxi Province, China) ‑
a typical village in effectively exploiting traditional cultural resources such as ancient architecture, clan culture,
traditional farming methods and indigenous education in current cultural construction. These elements have
been creatively applied to serve the goal of developing modern urban culture while still preserving the identity
of the ancient village. The model of sustainable cultural development in Jiangtou reflects the harmonious
combination of preservation and innovation, showing great potential in the process of industrialization and
modernization of rural China. The article also compares it with the ancient village of Duong Lam (Hanoi,
Vietnam) ‑ a place facing many challenges in preserving heritage amid rapid urbanization. Through analyzing
Giang Dau's model and comparing it with the current situation in Duong Lam, the article aims to suggest lessons
that can be applied to the process of building new rural areas and sustainable development of ancient village
culture in Vietnam, contributing to promoting the integration between urban and rural cultures in the context of
modernization.
