PRESERVING AND PROMOTING THE VALUE OF COAL SCULPTURE CRAFT IN QUANG NINH IN THE CONTEMPORARY CONTEXT

Abstract

The coal sculpture craft in Quảng Ninh is regarded as a unique form of traditional fine art and craftsmanship
found nowhere else. Handicraft products made from coal have become distinctive souvenirs for any visitor
coming to Quảng Ninh. However, over time, the craft has gradually declined and received little attention from
authorities and related sectors. Therefore, preserving and promoting the values of coal carving in Quảng Ninh
in the current context is extremely important. This article focuses on key aspects such as the history of the craft's
formation and the study of the distinctive values embodied in coal‑based artworks. From these findings, it
proposes several practical solutions to preserve and enhance the cultural and economic value of coal carving,
thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Quảng Ninh's tourism industry.
