SOME PERCEPTIONS OF MUONG’S FOLK SONGS IN THE WESTEN OF THANH HOA

Abstract

In Ngoc Lac, Thanh Hoa, Muong people account for nearly 68% of the district's population. The rest are King (~30%), Thai (~1%), Dao (~1.2%),… Through conducting surveys in the communes of Cao Thinh and Ngoc Trung (Ngoc Lac, Thanh Hoa), this paper aims at finding out the characteristics of Muong folk songs in Ngoc Lac and the western of Thanh Hoa. The research initially identified the value of folk songs in the social life of Muong in Ngoc Lac and Thanh Hoa and proposed solutions to the preservation and development of Muong folk songs in this locality.
