THE EFFECT OF GOLD IN DESCRIBING THE SPACE OF LACQUER PAINTINGS

Abstract

There are many different techniques for expressing space in a lacquer painting. Vietnamese artists have shown a lot of gilding techniques to bring unique nuances to each work. In some lacquer paintings, gold is inlaid into large plaques or just small patches of décor that are highly decorative. In many other works, gold plays a role of creating light, depicting the depth of the painting space or gold is spread like powder to sprinkle on the paint to create different shades of light, dark and light ... All both create a very vivid world in lacquer paintings with a significant contribution from the effect of gold in describing space.
