CHANGES IN FAMILY, SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS IN NEW RURAL COMMUNES IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract

The family and social relationships of farmers in Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) have been originated from solidarity, mutual assistance, overcoming and gradual adapting to the natural and social environment of the new land. This characteristic associated with farmers who have “preference for nearby neighbours rather than faraway relatives”. After 10 years of developing new
rural in HCMC, changes in family and social relations adapted to the New Rural Development Program have always shown the inherent virtues of farmers who are caring, helpful in overcoming
hardship, ambitious in creating prosperity for themselves, for their families and society.
