VIETNAMESE CULTURE THROUGH THE SYMPTOMS OF RICE PLANTS AND THE PRODUCTS OF RICE PLANTS IN THE TREASURE OF FOLK VERSES

Abstract

Of the 11825 words of folk verses in "Treasure of Vietnamese folk verses" edited by Nguyen Xuan Kinh and Phan Dang Nhat, there are 973 words about the meaning of rice and rice products, with 1035 words of rice plants and rice products. The report explores the symbolic meanings of words referring to rice plants and rice products in the treasure of Vietnamese folk verses. Thereby, it is clear that the thinking characteristics bearing the linguistic characteristics - agricultural culture (wet rice culture) of the Vietnamese people and the cultural characteristics of the Vietnamese people are clearly shown in wet rice culture; the tropical monsoon culture and the human culture of dealing with nature, love and work.
