THE ADAPTATION OF THE NOVEL LOLITA (V. NAVOKOV) FROM PERSPECTIVE OF THE THEORY OF RECEPTION

Abstract

Recently, there are many different approaches in the study of literature and cinema adaptation, such as: intetextualism, inter-symbol translation... In this article, we would like to introduce one more approach to study adaptation: the approach from the perspective of the theory of reception. From analyzing the influence of film's director and potential audience on the film adaptation of V.Nabokov's novel Lolita, we realized that these receptionists has a particularly important role for the film adaptation. The adaptation of a novel into a film mostly depends on the film's director and potential audience, not entirely on the adaptability of the novel.
