ARTISTIC VALUES OF SCULPTURE AND DESIGN TRENDS IN KHMER TEMPLES IN AN GIANG
Abstract
The temple is a place where various forms of sculptural art are concentrated, harmoniously combining architecture and sculpture in terms of interior decoration and external presentation. Most ancient temples have high architectural value and achieve a high level of sculptural art. Many Khmer temples in An Giang have been renovated and reconstructed multiple times but still retain their ancient architecture. These are not only distinctive architectural relics of the Khmer people but also powerful evidence of their traditional cultural values. Therefore, the sculptural art values and design trends in Khmer temples in An Giang province not only help identify cultural values within the architecture but also contribute to understanding the techniques in their sculptural and artistic creations.
