PERFORMING ACTIVITIES IN THE TRADITIONAL WATER PUPPETRY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN HANOI

Abstract

Vietnam has a long and rich culture, with many kinds of performing arts such as Cheo, Cai luong, Tuong, Water Puppetry, Quan ho, Xoan singing, etc. It is a very important resource for cultural tourism, contributing to the development of tourism, introducing Vietnamese culture to international friends. In the period of development, economic-cultural integration as strong as todays, the issue of conservation and sustainable exploitation of the values of traditional arts are paid much attention. Water puppetry is one of the typical forms of theatrical culture, expressing the wisdom and intelligence of the Vietnamese people and attached to the rice civilization. In Hanoi, there are 3 typical venues: Thang Long Puppet Theater, Vietnamese Puppet Theater, miniature water Puppet Theater by artist Phan Thanh Liem. The exploration of the unique values of water puppetry in Hanoi as an intangible cultural tourism resource is essential in the context of tourism as a focus of investment the development of the capital.
