Marxist - Leninist theories on religion in socialism and the application of the Communist Party of Vietnam

Abstract

One of the highly-reputed spiritual legacies devoted by K.Marx and F.Engels in the 19th century was the “ultimate” materialistic philosophy. Though antheism was not what they were intended, K. Marx, F. Engels and V.I.Lenin did build their viewpoints on religion in order to fight against idealistic philosophy to protect materialistic one, and consider the victory of the ieological struggle the premise for the latter ones. Their views on religion were the ideological foundation for the religious policies of the communist parties in the early periods and throughout the process of building socialism. The study summaries the socialist views of religious proposed by theorists, as well as proposes the lessons for Vietnam.
