Major contents of the updated guideline for socio-economic development model in Cuba
Abstract
The Communist Party of Cuba’s “Update of the socio-economic development model” in light of the 6th Party Congress (2011) and 7th Party Congress (2016) is the transitional process from the “centrally planned, bureaucratic” economic model to the “uncentrallized economy where non-State ecnomic sector are increasingly involved, decentralization is widened and enterprises’ discretion is promoted”, while maintaining the advanced achievements of Cuban revolution throughout over the past 50 years. That is the cautious research process to identify the unchangables, the general strategies and the specific targets to avoid “losing
oneself” or “getting lost” in the national development and to gain people’s consensus.
