Commentary works in Thanh Nien newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc in 1925
Abstract
The article focuses on studying commentary works published in Thanh Nien newspaper
- the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association, founded by Nguyen Ai
Quoc in 1925. First of all, the article clarifies the main contents of commentary works
including: disseminating Marxism-Leninism and proletarian revolutionary ideology;
laying bare the exploitative and brutal nature of French colonialism; promoting the spirit
of class struggle and that of national revolution; calling for solidarity; identifying the
revolutionary forces as workers and peasantry under the leadership of the Party; educating
the steadfast fighting will; and awakening the spirit of resistance. In addition, the article
analyzes the outstanding writing characteristics in the commentary works in Thanh
Nien newspaper such as: sharp, tight, systematic arguments; plain and comprehensible
language suitable for the populace; concise, succinct, rich in inspiration; flexible use of
metaphors, real-life examples to increase persuasiveness; commentary style bearing the
hallmark of Nguyen Ai Quoc. Thereby, the article affirms the profound theoretical and
practical value of the commentary works in Thanh Nien newspaper and highlights the
role of Nguyen Ai Quoc as a revolutionary theorist, an exemplary commentary writer in
the early stages of propagating Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam.
