The relationship between the targets of transport development and those of housing development in Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

Synchronization in urban development is a critical determinant of harmonious and
sustainable urban growth, ensuring both the quality of life for residents and the efficient
utilization of urban resources. In the context of Ho Chi Minh City’s rapid socio-economic
expansion, there are still challenges in achieving the synchronization between transport
infrastructure development and housing development. By examining key development
indicators for the transport and housing sectors during the 2016-2020 period, this study
aims to elucidate the correlation trends and interrelationships between these two sectors,
thereby underscoring the necessity of adopting an integrated urban planning approach,
wherein transport planning and housing development should be done concurrently with
a view to harmonizing the development of transport and housing in the future stages of
the City.
