Abstract
Gender equality is a critical foundation for sustainable development, contributing to
social equity and driving economic growth. In the context of global integration, in Ho
Chi Minh City, the key economic region of the country, the issue of raising perceptions
about gender equality to ensure equal and sustainable development opportunities for
all individuals has become increasingly urgent, particularly with regard to students’
perception of gender equality. The quantitative study, employing descriptive statistical
techniques, analyzed 385 responses from students at 12 economics-focused universities
in Ho Chi Minh City to evaluate their perceptions of gender equality as shaped by socio-
cultural, familial, educational, and occupational factors. Based on the overall evaluation
of students’ perception of gender equality, the study proposes several recommendations
for and solutions to enhancing economics students’ perception of gender equality,
contributing to the creation of a sustainable socio-economic environment in Ho Chi Minh
City in the the era of national rise.
