Abstract
The study focuses on the application of digital technology to promote sustainable
tourism in Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City. With a unique mangrove ecosystem, Can
Gio District has the potentiality to develop sustainable tourism on the one hand, but is
facing limitations in infrastructure, promotion and market connection on the other hand.
Digital technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), big data, virtual reality (VR/AR)
and Internet of Things (IoT), can help optimize management, enhance visitor experience
and conserve natural resources. The study applies SWOT analysis, literature review and
practical comparison methods to assessing the current situation and proposing solutions.
Recommendations focus on building technology infrastructure, developing smart tourism
platforms, training digital human resources and enhancing public-private cooperation.
Digital transformation will help Can Gio District effectively exploit existing advantages,
aiming for more sustainable and competitive tourism development in the market.
