Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the combined effects of temperature and ammonia on the quality of Red Drum larvae (Sciaenops ocellatus) under climate change conditions, with rising temperatures. Red Drum larvae were cultured under different temperature conditions (27-28℃, 30℃, 32℃) and ammonia concentrations ranging between 0, 0.02, 0.03, 0.19, 0.23, and 0.31 ppm. The results showed that temperature and ammonia significantly affected survival rate, growth, feeding capacity, respiratory rate, and oxygen consumption of larvae. Survival rate and feeding capacity decreased as temperature and ammonia concentration increased, while respiratory rate and oxygen consumption increased. More importantly, Red drum larvae were unable to recover after being exposed to high levels of temperature and ammonia. These findings provide a scientific basis for improving seed production and marine fish farming techniques under current climate change conditions.
